Laminates

PACOPLATE laminates are composite materials consisting of two or more layers of different steel wire meshes. The combination depends entirely on the required filtering application.

The composition of the mesh layers is selected to achieve an optimum combination of strength, filtration fineness, flow and regeneration characteristics. PACOPLATE laminates are characterized by high mechanical load-bearing capacity, easy processing, high inherent rigidity, high abrasion resistance, high thermal resilience, good contamination retention and easy cleaning. Depending on their composition and thickness, laminate sheets can be further processed into any number of different shaped parts, such as tubes, extrusions or stamped parts, etc. Due to the high inherent rigidity of the material, laminate parts are characterized by particularly high shape and pressure stability.

Made to measure performance levels

Optimum quality and performance characteristics can only be achieved with sophisticated manufacturing methods. PACO therefore employs high-end technologies for the production of PACOPLATE – controlled and documented as part of a continuously audited quality management system.

PACOPLATE laminates can consist of two, three, four, five, six or even many more layers of wire mesh. The standard quality is five-ply. Metal wire cloth with a plain or twilled weave as well as dutch weaves in various combinations are used as base materials. The individual PACOPLATE material layers, including the fine meshes of different shapes that determine the filtration characteristics, are provided with sintered bridges (flattening of the offset points) using a calendaring process. In addition, the desired shape of the mesh openings is fixed during this step to ensure the required flow properties. The individual layers of material are then inseparably bonded together at high temperatures and pressures in a hydrogen atmosphere or in a vacuum with the help of diffusion.
